Justin Isosceles 2013Appearance: Bright, nearly opaque, ruby purple core with a narrow, moderate intensity rim and slow forming lightly stained tears. Aroma: Intense and complex with aromas of ripe black fruit, baking spice, sweet tobacco, leather, cocoa, oak barrel elements with subtle smoky eucalyptus accents. Palate: Dry and full-bodied with rich black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and licorice spice notes on the entry. The finish is very long and crisp with a complex interplay between the savory mid-palate and returning fruit of red cherry candy and sweet spice with a floral hint of violet, all framed by soft, chewy tannins. The 2013 ISOSCELES is drinking exceptionally well at release but has the structure to further develop beautifully over time. Great with classic cab fare like rich braised short ribs or grilled leg of lamb with garlic and herbs, the 2013 ISOSCELES also drinks well on its own due to its exceptional balance of flavor and texture even when young.

Banshee Mordecai 2014The resulting wine is a unique beast. While many red blends try to bowl you over with full throttle richness and power, Mordecai wants to charm you as well. It possesses a blend of both red and black fruit characteristics, espresso roast, licorice and spice. It is big boned but also light on its feet.
Cantine Valpane Barbera del Monferrato Rosso Pietro 2013Although the names Asti and Alba may be more widely recognized today, Pietro explains that the Monferrato provides more faithful expressions of Barbera. This is due in part to the warmer climate and longer hours of sunlight here, which allow the grapes to ripen completely and unfurl the full personality of the variety. The Monferrato is also still relatively untamed, and the forests and fields here benefit the area's vineyards by providing a natural source of variety. At Valpane these factors combine to provide meaty Barberas that nevertheless offer plenty of lively fruit. Pietro then lets them sit in large oak botti and cement tanks for several years, depending on the cuvée, and releases them only when they are ready.
Chateau Massiac Minervois Cuvée Sentinelle 2015The "Sentinelle" cuvée is the more precocious of the two reds produced at Massiac. The tannins are more supple and the fruit a touch "sweeter", more forward and less rustic than its companion. Fermentation and elevage are in tank. The wine is bottled within a year of the harvest. The blend is usually two-thirds Syrah and one-third Carignan.
Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc 2014A combination of both tank and barrel fermentations that are aged in neutral barrels. We source our fruit from three vineyards in Happy Canyon called Grassini, McGinley, and Star Lane. It has a very long, savory finish with the slight grip of fine-grained tannins. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2030.
H. Billiot Fils Brut Rosé 750mlDeceptively pretty; it smells like a June picnic basket, but on the palate it's silky, gauzy, detailed and sleek, with tertiary notes of leaf-smoke and lavender. It's significantly more youthful and frisky but also cornbread-y and lush.
Champagne Aubry Brut
Walt La Brisa Chardonnay 2014This appellation blend is crafted from the fruit of several Dutton family proper ties in the Green Valley, the coolest sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley. In addition, we sourced select fruit from the Sangiacomo family's vineyard in the Sonoma Coast, a cool and breezy site that produces wines of terrific fruit concentration. The combined characteristics of these appellations, including cool morning fog and light sandy soils, give depth and uniqueness to the resulting blend.

The fruit for this brute of a Cab comes from the original "super freak," Michael Phillips' vineyard located only a medicine balls toss away from the winery.

The bright entry introduces mixed dark berries, raspberry and cherry laced with rich vanillin oak, pepper and spicy acidity. Hints of chocolate appear mid-palate as the flavors broaden, and then linger in the finish. Enjoyable now, this wine will benefit from decanting if opened before 2015, or give it a bit more bottle aging to allow the components to continue to integrate. It will pair nicely with spice-rubbed baby back ribs, or spaghetti topped with meatballs.
Aldo Conterno Barolo Granbussia Riserva 2005The Granbussia remains in the cellar for at least 8 years before commercialization. It is produced exclusively in the best years and in limited quantities.
Opus One Napa Valley Red 2012Mother Nature favored the 2012 vintage with a superb growing season characterized by moderate temperatures and bountiful sunshine. At harvest, the fruit exhibited intense flavor, layers of complexity and excellent structure. Picking started on September 21st and continued through October 20th. The wine effuses dark fruit aromas accentuated by subtler notes of forest-floor and graphite. The wine's round mouthfeel and satiny tannins wrap around classic flavors of cassis, blackberry and black cherry. This refined and age-worthy wine offers lively acidity and a sturdy structure with a long lingering finish.
Opus One Napa Valley Red 2013A wine of subtlety and grace, Opus One doesn't rush to reveal itself. Time is expressed in Opus One by the character of the vintage: sometimes with a personality that is highly defined and sometimes with a shade of difference quite subtle from other vintages. Through the minds and hands of the vineyard workers we capture time and the essence of the season - coaxing concentration and tempering abundance. Place is often defined as terroir and denotes the special characteristics that geography, geology and climate bestow upon a vineyard. Place is best expressed in the mouthfeel of Opus One; it is the balance of power and finesse, structure and texture. Complementing both time and place is the essential human element: the attitude, will and soulful attention embodied in the team of individuals who prune, harvest, cellar and embrace the vision of our founding partners.
Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Caymus Special Selection is the flagship wine of the Wagner family and is comprised of the very best barrels of the vintage. This wine is not produced in difficult years. Caymus prides itself on producing wines that are as approachable in youth as well at maturity. Aromas and flavors which can only be achieved through "hang time" - a technique which chances the loss of crop if early winter sets in. Leaving the fruit to "hang" on the vine unusually long develops suppleness, increases color, and matures the tannins of the grapes. The wines are abundant in textural tannins yet soft as velvet. Crop thinning, allowing measured sunlight to reach the vine's fruit zone, and waiting for increased ripeness are all part of our viticultural practices. Caymus Cabernets offer a wide array of aromas and flavors including cocoa, cassis and vanilla.
Venge Bone Ash Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014The 2014 vintage is the third vintage in a string of outstanding growing years. Right on par with that of the 2012 and 2013 vintages, this is Estate Cabernet Sauvignon at its best! Jelly jar, jammy notes, and cassis fill the senses, with aromatics that reside in the black fruit spectrum. The palate is concentrated, polished, and full-bodied. Black currant, blackberry and ripe cassis are all intertwined with an acid and tannin balance that will deliver a wine that will cellar beautifully. This wine will drink its best from 2018 through 2034.

The 2007 exhibits all of the classic Trilogy attributes with a lovely cassis and cherry bouquet as well as huge black fruit flavors that envelope the palate. Each varietal is vital to the outcome - the Cabernet exhibits black cherry and dark cocoa character, while the Merlot carries these flavors to the back of the palate for an everlasting finish. Unrelenting with power and grace, the 2007 Trilogy, our 23rd release, beautifully marries the complexity and elegance of our earlier vintages with the sheer bravado of our favorite vintages during the late 90's.
